When film clearly pays for itself
If a vehicle covers regular motorway mileage, the front end will collect chips. Repairing a chipped bumper and bonnet properly means paint work, and paint work on a car with a special-order or three-stage colour is rarely invisible.
- High-mileage performance cars kept several years
- Rare or difficult-to-match paint finishes
- Vehicles with a low, exposed front end
- Cars where original paint matters at resale
When it is harder to justify
A short lease with generous return terms, a low-mileage car kept garaged, or a vehicle you plan to change within a year may not recover the cost. In those cases a good coating and disciplined washing may be a better use of budget.
Specify coverage sensibly
Full-car film is not the default answer. A front-end package covering the bumper, bonnet leading edge, wings and mirrors deals with the majority of real-world damage at a fraction of the cost. Extend to sills, arches and door edges only where your usage justifies it.
